I've had my site with http://accukorting.webs.com/ since they took over website pros. When I started with them in 2013 I knew very little and barely went near the site. Times have changed and so my business has evolved. I'm happy with the online builder - it takes a while to get the hang of but when you do - changes can be made and published quickly. I'm happy with the toll free phone number, but that's a Catch 22 - keep reading to find out why. I have found the people there to be helpful and polite - really, and I had no problem with them till I started to get some knowledge. The problem with Web.com is they outright LIE to you and they can do the double talk thing if you don't really know anything about websites. For instance - they solicited me for an online store http://ubestbatterycom.webs.com/ . In addition to the cost of hosting, and the fee from the credit card company (2.7% of the sale is a decent rate)THEY - WEB.COM WANT 2%! They claim it's to support the SSL certificate and security software. LIE! Then they'll tell you other store providers get 3 or even as much as 4%! Thing is - NO ECOMMERCE SITE PROVIDERS GET A PERCENTAGE OF THE SALE!!! At least none I've found. Web.com wants to be a partner with you doing all the work, not taking any risk AND you them every month regardless of what you sell (just like a lazy employee). Then get $40.00 a month to host a Facebook page. HELLO! It's free! But they'll tell you that business pages are 'specially coded' and have to be done by a website provider. Geeze..... Then there's the SEO pitch. This is a true story - so help me God; I had a sales person tell me that Web.com has to PAY the search engines to list my site! I asked 4 times - just so I was sure I heard right; "Web.com has to PAY companies like Google to list my site"? "YES" I was told FOUR TIMES. I asked "Well why is it when I Google 'how to list my website' there are about 20 pages of sites explaining how to do it and they ALL tell you it's free"? The lady almost croaked. She couldn't double talk well enough. Also; you DO NOT OWN THE SITE!!! That means you can't load any programs that might be useful to your business. I have a bunch more stories, but the thing is - I'm kinda' trapped. Remember the toll free number? Get print ads, stationary and yellow page advertisments and guess what? Right - TRAPPED! If I had it to do over, (and I will shortly) - make sure YOU own the domain name (they want a hundred bucks to sell you the name you came up with) so you can change hosts, check out the cheapo sites and their builders (you want unlimited pages too) and pay for your own 800,866 or 877 number, though they aren't all that anymore because of cell phones. You can put Google or Bing anylitics on any site and you'll get soooo much more information. By the way, Web.com pads those numbers too. When I compare Google's numbers to Web.com's, it looks like Web.com adds 5 for every 30 visits (I guess it makes their SEO program look good).
