Chromebook Pixel: performance
Performance has never really been an issue for Chromebook devices - after all, all the heavy lifting takes place on the internet. So the Chromebook Pixel's advanced spec doesn't have much of an effect over cheaper Chromebooks.

Chromebook Pixel: battery

Chromebook Pixel: the verdict
In assessing the value of any Chrome laptop you have to factor in the limitations of the OS. To be clear: a Chromebook can't run the desktop software to which you are used. So there's no Word or Excel, no iTunes, no Photoshop. No Windows-based games. (You can, of course, run Microsoft's new Office 365 in a web browser Window, but it's not quite the same thing as running Office on the desktop, in my possibly outdated view.)Accu HP 633807-001
Google does provide free web-based alternatives such as Google Docs, and there are of course a plethora of third-party apps that work via your web browser. It's not worse necessarily, but it is different: and unlike a Macbook you can't install Windows if you want to utilise the familiar. The Chromebook comes with Chrome OS, and that's it.
With that caveat in mind the build quality and performance of the Chromebook Pixel are very strong, and the display is the best around. And it's a touchscreen display, which is more useful on a laptop than you might think. Oh, and you won't need AV - you can't install software on to this hardware. Accu HP HSTNN-YB2D
On the down side the battery life isn't great.
That's probably a couple two many caveats for a £1,049 laptop. You can buy a £300 Windows box that offers similar functionality, as well as an iPad or Android tablet. Deze ontwikkeling vindt niet plaats bij de Google X-afdeling waar bijvoorbeeld gewerkt wordt aan de Google-bril en zelfrijdende auto's. Dit omdat een smartwatch gekoppeld kan worden aan een telefoon. Het mobiele besturingssysteem Android staat bijvoorbeeld op smartphones van Samsung, HTC en Sony. Met een smartwatch is het mogelijk oproepen, sms'jes en e-mails te bekijken op het horloge.
Geruchten
Er gaan al maanden geruchten over een smartwatch van Apple, die nog dit jaar uit zou moeten komen. Daarnaast bevestigde Samsung onlangs aan een dergelijk horloge te werken. Het is bovendien niet de eerste keer dat er over een smartwatch van Google wordt gesproken. Accu HP ED06
Eerder dook al een patentaanvraag op die wees op de komst van een Google-horloge. Toen was echter onduidelijk of de zoekgigant ook echt werkte aan een horloge of alleen een patent had aangevraagd. Donderdagnacht (Nederlandse tijd) maakte Apple bekend dat de beveiliging van het Apple ID en iCloud is uitgebreid.
Gebruikers kunnen nu kiezen voor twee-staps-authenticatie. Dat betekent dat naast een wachtwoord ook een code nodig is om in te loggen en persoonlijke informatie te wijzigen. Deze code kan dan naar een vertrouwd apparaat, zoals een telefoon, verstuurd worden. Oplader HP Mini 1103

Door de invoering van het beveiligingsprincipe moet het voor kwaadwillenden moeilijker worden toegang te krijgen tot een account. Tot voor kort konden medewerkers van Apple op afstand een wachtwoord wijzigen. Het was daardoor voor kwaadwillenden mogelijk zich telefonisch voor te doen als iemand anders en zo toch toegang te krijgen tot een account.
Gebruikers krijgen ook een 14-cijferige backupcode om toegang te krijgen tot hun account als het op de normale manier niet lukt.Veel webwinkels houden zich niet aan de regels bij de retourzending van een gekocht product. Dat blijkt uit een vrijdag gepubliceerd onderzoek van de Consumentenbond.
De bond bestelde op internet 268 producten bij 118 verschillende webwinkels en stuurde alle pakketten direct retour.
In veel gevallen betaalden de webwinkels pas na een herinnering het verschuldigde bedrag terug, en bij vier winkels konden de onderzoekers helemaal naar hun centen fluiten. Bij 44 procent van de teruggestuurde pakketten werden ook geen bezorgkosten terugbetaald. Accu HP HSTNN-XB2C WY164AA
Volgens de Consumentenbond hebben consumenten bij internetaankopen binnen de wettelijke bedenktijd van 7 werkdagen altijd recht op geld terug, ook voor artikelen in de uitverkoop.Apple maakt zich in Europa mogelijk schuldig aan concurrentieverstoring door machtsmisbruik in contracten met providers.
